12 Days of Khyron - Day 8 Take it to the Max!

Welcome to the 8th Day of Khyron!  Yesterday we talked about Miriya in her VF-1J, so today we will take a look at her dashing husband and SDF-1 ace Max Sterling.

Max began his military career as a corporal serving under Rick Hunter in Vermilion Squadron.  Along side his companion Ben Dixon, Max quickly established himself as one of the best fighter pilots aboard the SDF-1 scoring an impressive number of enemy kills
.

The boy in blue was promoted to Lieutenant shortly after the SDF-1 returned to earth, and got his own VF-1J after his marriage to Miriya.  I can only imagine that the matching paint pattern was Miriya's idea, I mean come on Max... give Miriya her purse back and grow a set!

In gaming terms, Max will cost you 10 pts and comes with a +1 GN and the Prescient skill which allows Max to re-roll all of his Dodge rolls that fail (no single roll can be re-rolled more than once).  If Max is 4" or less from his fem-fatal Miriya Sterling, he gains her Aggressive trait allowing Max to re-roll all his Strike rolls (no single roll can be re-rolled more than once).

12 Days of Khyron - Day 7 Viva Miriya!

Today we look at painting the sexiest green haired fighter pilot in the galaxy.  Formally known as Miriya Parina, she's a Zentraedi ace with a near fatal attraction to UEDF pilot Max Sterling.  They fell in love, married and produced a half-breed baby named Dana that who's very presence brought down an entire Robotech factory.

At 10 pts she is a capable fighter with the Aggressive ability to re-roll all her strikes (only once per strike), she really shines when paired up with her blue haired husband Max.  When 4" or less from Max, she benefits from True Love and gains the Prescient ability which allows her to re-roll all of her dodge rolls (no single roll can be re-rolled more than once).  I can't wait to see how much damage these two will be able to dish out piloting super veritechs.

Miriya's VF-1J paint scheme can be found at the bottom of pg 96 of the RRT rule book, but unfortunately, it is missing a few points.  Specifically the white stripe and arrow that is found under the arms as seen below.

I painted my Miriya using my usual methods of white primer, basic colours, clear coat, then pin washing the recessed lines using black ink.

Next I'll begin work on Max in his VF-1J.  Pics to come later during the 12 days of Khyron.

The 12 Days of Khyron - Day 2

Its the 2nd day of Khyron and today we bring you Vermilion Squadron.  Yes its Rick Hunter, Max Sterling and Ben Dixon in their glory.  Since RRT dictates four veritechs per squadron, I added a brownie painting in the same scheme as Max and Ben.

(Form left to right its Ben, Rick, Max and Token Brownie pilot who I will name Ernesto)

I will paint my minis in their base colors then give them a satin clear coat, apply decals, clear coat one more time to seal the decals, then apply watered down black ink using a #0 brush to the recess lines on the wings, etc.

These lads look like they can get in a lot of trouble.  At 110 pts (80 + 10 for Rick, 10 for Max, 5 for Ben and 5 for SDF-1 Nose lasers) they can dish out a load of damage.

Painted 300

I emerged from my cave today, long bearded, my eyes squinting at the bright sun light.  I look and feel like a morlock, but it was worth it, for I have finished painting two armies.

300+ pts of Zentradi:

An attrition squad lead by Khyron, a recon squad lead by Grell, and an artillery squadron with a regult squad in support.

Grell and Khyron

I also painted up one of those recovery pods.  I have some ideas on how to use these ugly things in a scenario.

On to 300+ pts of RDF:

Brownies!!! (still some detailing to do, but for now they are done)

 Fire support Squadron

 Rick Hunter and Roy Fokker

 Close Quarters Squadron of Spartans

 Armored Squadron of Tomahawks

Having finished phase one, I took some time out today to play a 300 pt Dog Fight at Mars Base Sara. I will have pics and a report for you later tonight.  For now, here is a spoiler...

7 Days of Robotech RPG Tactics

Well it has been a week since my RRT showdown pledge arrived and I have been working night and day on assembly and painting.

I am by no means an expert painter but I am aiming for a clean Anime look.  Some of the Destroids have been washed using Army Painter Quickshade.

To date I have finished painting:

21 Battlepods, 4 Artillery pods, a Glaug and a Recon Pod (still waiting for decals)...  200 points worth.

4 Tomahawks (one painted up as Hiro from RT Battlecry), 4 Spartans, Roy Fokker's VF-1S and Rick Hunters VF-1J

Over the next two days, I plan to finish 2 Phalanx, 2 Defenders, 3 VF-1A browies which  gives me 100+ points of Vertiech and about 200 pts of Destroids.

If all goes to plan, I will be able to play my first custom scenario for the Attack on Mars Base Sara which I should be able to post by Friday.
